Drupal Modules Management

You can install, update, enable or disable Drupal Modules from the Extend section of your Drupal application.

The default installation of Drupal has many useful modules, and there is a brief description of what each one of the modules does. If you need more modules, you can freely download them from the Drupal Modules official website.

On your site, Drupal modules are stored in the modules/ subfolder within the Drupal installation directory. You can install additional modules by using the Install new module functionality. Alternatively, you can unzip the chosen module in the aforementioned folder (modules/).

We will demonstrate the module installation process in Drupal by installing the Social Media Links Block and Field module.

Visit the Drupal Modules website and find the Social Media Links Block and Field module. Download the corresponding version to your local hard-drive. Then go to Extend > Install new module.

Browse for the plugin’s installation file and click on Install.

After you install it, you should make sure to enable it by going back to Extend and finding the OTHER section. There you would see the Social Media Links Block and Social Media Links Field. Make sure to place ticks on them both and press Install.

That’s it – your plugin is successfully installed now.

As an alternative, you may upload the archive in the modules folder of your Drupal installation and extract it. Then enable the Social Media Link Block and Field module as explained above.

You can also check for the modules that need an update in the Update tab.

The Uninstall section lists the disabled external modules that can be uninstalled from your system.
