How to Enable Abandoned Cart Emails
The Abandoned Cart feature in SiteGround Ecommerce helps you recover missed sales by automatically sending reminder emails to customers who added products to their cart but didn’t complete the checkout.
You can enable the feature directly from your store settings:
- Go to Site Admin > Settings
- Open System Emails
- Enable the Abandoned Cart toggle

Once turned on, the system will start monitoring customer carts automatically.
How the Abandoned Cart Emails Work
To trigger an abandoned cart email, the customer must:
- Add products to the cart
- Proceed to checkout and enter at least their email address
- Leave the checkout without completing the purchase for a predefined period of time
The following conditions apply to the abandoned cart:
- Any change to the cart resets the timer
- When the timer ends, an abandoned cart email is sent to the customer
The email includes a link that allows the customer to return to their cart and complete the purchase.
Abandoned Cart Email Preview
You can preview the abandoned cart email at any time. Go to Settings > System Emails, and click on the Abandoned Cart email title.

If the Abandoned Cart feature is disabled:
- No new abandoned cart emails will be sent
- Carts abandoned after disabling the feature will not trigger emails
- Carts that already received an email will remain accessible for the original 7-day period
Each abandoned cart email also includes an unsubscribe option, allowing customers to stop receiving these reminder emails.
