How to add links to external pages in main site menu

IMPORTANT! We currently have two builder versions: one for sites created before March 4, 2026, and another for sites created after this date. Sites still using the older builder will be automatically migrated to the newer version soon. If your site hasn’t been migrated yet, please refer to the Classic Builder section below.

Apart from internal pages, the main menu of your website, built with Website Builder, can display links to external pages from other websites.

To add such links, follow these steps:

  1. In Site Admin, click the Edit Website button.

  2. Open the Navigation tab from the left menu toolbar.
  3. Click the Add Item button in the top-right corner of the Navigation settings menu.

  4. In the following pop-up window, open the Link Type drop-down menu and select External Link.

  5. In the field below, type/paste the address of the external page.
  6. In the Menu Label field, type the name that will be displayed for the link in the main site menu.

  7. From the Location drop-down menu, select Header.

  8. Enable the Open in new tab slider to instruct browsers to open the page in a new tab. If you wish to open the page in the same tab, leave it disabled.
  9. Turn on the Set link to No-Follow slider to instruct search engines to ignore the link from your website to the external page. Otherwise, keep it disabled.

  10. Click Save to confirm the link.

NOTE: You can rearrange the main navigation links by dragging and dropping them from the Navigation tab.

How to add links to external pages in main site menu (Classic builder)

To add external page links to your main site menu, go to the Navigation tab.

Now click on the New Item button.

The left column will load options to manage the new menu item. Click on the Link Type dropdown menu and select External Link. Proceed by placing the link to the external site in the External Link field and set a menu item name which will be displayed in your menu. And finally, make sure you are adding the link to the Main Navigation on top of the site from the Locationdropdown.

Note: You can rearrange the main navigation links by dragging and dropping them from the Navigation tab.
