How to Add “Alt” text to my images

We currently have two builder versions: one for sites created before {date} and another for sites created after this date. Sites still using the older builder will be automatically migrated to the newer version soon. If your site hasn’t been migrated yet, please refer to the Classic Builder section below.

To improve the accessibility and SEO of your images, you can add alt text to each image on your page. Alt text provides a textual description of an image, which helps search engines index your images and assists users who rely on screen readers.

To add alt text, first go to Site Admin > Website Builder, and press the Edit Website button.

Then navigate to the Pages tab and select the page containing the image you want to add alt text to.

Click on the image you wish to edit to reveal a pop-over where you can edit the Alt Text field.

You can also edit the alt text by hovering over the image inside the pop-over’s image square. When the Update button appears, click it. You’ll then have the option to choose between Upload Image, Open My Files or Add From Link.

If you choose Open My Files, you will enter the gallery where you’ll see an icon suggesting to edit alt text.

When you click on the icon, a pop-up will appear allowing you to edit the alt text and then Save.

Note: Keep in mind that the alt text is attached to the image itself.

If you use the same image on multiple pages, the same alt text will appear everywhere – you do not have to update it more than once.

 

How to add “Alt” text to my images (Classic Builder)

To improve the accessibility and SEO of your images, you can add “alt text” to each image on your page. Alt text provides a textual description of an image, which helps search engines index your images and assists users who rely on screen readers.

To add Alt texts, hover over an image on your page, and click Update.

This will open your image gallery. Click on theEdit alt text button in the top right corner of the respective image.

In the dialog box that opens, enter your image’s alt text and click Save.

Note: Keep in mind that the alt text is attached to the image itself.

If you use the same image on multiple pages, the same alt text will appear everywhere – you do not have to update it more than once.
