Do you have our WordPress autoupdater switched on? Have you logged to your WordPress admin since Saturday? If your answer is YES to both questions, you should have already noticed that things no longer look the same at the backend. Changes in the WordPress administration area that you see are part of the newest WordPress version 3.8 that was released on Thursday, December 12th and was automatically applied to our customers’ websites less than 48 hours later.

So what is new in 3.8 and how to benefit from it?

The new 3.8 WordPress version is visibly changing how things look and feel at the backend. The result is really better user experience, easier mobile navigation and more freedom for customization. The most important changes in my opinion are:

WordPress 3.8 and SiteGround

As always we have been pro-actively preparing all our systems for the new WordPress release. Below I will list some of the actions we took to allow our customers to enjoy fully the newest version as soon as possible:

  • We updated existing WordPress installations using our AutoUpdater in less than 48 hours after the official release of 3.8.
  • Our WordPress auto-installers also started to ship 3.8 no more than 48 hours after its official release.
  • Our SuperCacher plugin for WordPress was updated to be fully compatible with WordPress 3.8 on the release date.
  • We added new articles to our WordPress tutorial to explain the new functionalities and we are in the process of updating all existing articles to correspond to the new outlook and functionalities of 3.8

I love the WP 3.8. It looks and feel very modern and unlike the earlier versions, the backend now looks like it has caught up to the modern age. I guess the best part of it is that now I can access my dashboard from any device without having half of it cut off or being displayed so weirdly.
